Nat’l Performance Art Festival begins

A two-day 'National Performance Art Festival 2017' began at Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy (BSA) on Friday. 

People's Theatre Association (PTA) and BSA jointly organised at eight spots of the academy where 12 artists and a troupe are performing from 3pm to 8pm on Friday and Saturday.

Eminent artist Mustafa Monwar inaugurated the festival on the premises of National Music and Dance Department while Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as the chief guest.

The artists -- Kamruzzaman Shadhin, Farah Nazmun, Abu Naser Robi, Arpita Singha Lopa, Saleh Mahmud, Suzon Mahbub and Ashim Halder Sagor showed their art performances on Friday while Yasmin Jahan Nupur, Jewel A Rob, Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Sumona Akter, Reetu Sattar and Loko Natyadal, a member of People’s Theatre Association, will present their performances on Saturday.

The eight venues are National Music and Dance Chattar and Lobby, Nandan Mancha, BSA open premises, National Theatre Hall Lobby, National Art Plaza Lobby, 2nd floor and Charu Prangan.

At the opening ceremony, noted artist Kalidas Karmakar was recognised with Lifetime Achievement Award while artist Mahbubur Rahman given 'Performance Art Honorary Award 2017'.

People's Theatre Association (PTA) started a revolutionary movement in January 1990 and it has so far participated in 85 international festivals.


Besides, PTA organised 'National Youth Theatre Festival' for five times and 'National Children Theatre Festival' for 13 times.unb
