DSE’s key index surpasses 5,100-mark

DSE’s key index surpasses 5,100-mark

 The benchmark index of country’s prime bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today exceeded 5,100-mark after more than a year buoyed by some regulatory measures and gradual improvement of economic activities onslaught of COVID-19.

The broad index, DSEX settled at 5100.54 points on Tuesday with a gain of 8.40 points or 0.16 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up slightly by 5.33 points and 0.14 points to settle at 1761.33 points and 1170.56 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 206,287 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 365.12 million securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 9.95 billion from Taka 11.48 billion in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 355 issues traded, 128 securities gained price while 174 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,862 billion which was Taka 3,852 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Asia Pacific General Insurance, Pravati Insurance, Asia Insurance, Agrani Insurance, Pioneer Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, Continental Insurance, Ambee Pharma, Dhaka Insurance and Libra Infusion.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Brac Bank, Orion Pharma, Orion Infusion, Monno Ceramic, Express Insurance, Delta Brac Housing, United Power and Western Marine Shipyard.

The top ten losers were Shyampur Sugar Mill, RN Spinning, Generation Next, Savar Refractories, Fareast Finance, Bangladesh Industrial Finance, Tallu Spinning, Tung Hi Knitting, Keya Cosmetics and Dulamia Cotton.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded today.

CSCX and CASPI rose by 16.75 points and 13.14 points to stand at 8739.40 points and 14527.52 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 16,270,792 share and mutual funds of 276 companies were traded, of which 88 issues advanced while 149 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged.
