Abahani Limited Manager Sattyajit Das Rupu rules out resuming the postponed football league or talking about club players’ demands for dues as the whole world is wrestling to weather COVID-19 pandemic.

However, officials or managers of different clubs put across their remarks on the players’ appeal in this difficult situation of COVID-19 pandemic.

“I don’t think it is right time to place any demand on the part of footballers but I think this is a critical situation which we should focus to get rid of,” said Rupu, who guided Abahani Limited to celebrate the Professional Football League championship for six times and four times in a row.

He said, “To be honest, now the situation is too frightening that all are worried about how long this terrifying situation will persist. All are thinking about getting relief from this weird condition.”

“It’s my clear opinion that players can appeal for their demands and press for their meeting for the solution of problems but it won’t be wise to demand the dues considering the fear-provoking condition, as whole world including the nation is now struggling to soften the blow of coronavirus,” said Rupu.

“Now, there are no activities of clubs and all are in almost isolation, living under a great threat,” Rupu revealed.

“Nobody is now safe, yes when the situation calms down, we will discuss all their problems,” said the former national player Rupu adding that now everybody should focus on personal safety and wellbeing.

Meanwhile, some 25 players of different clubs including some of the players of national squad recently called on Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin, the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) with their appeal to resume the postponed league, which is only earning source of their bread and butter.
