50-bed treatment centre for pregnant women with Covid-19 opened in Cox's Bazar

Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh inaugurated a 50-bed isolation and treatment centre for pregnant women and children with Covid-19 on Wednesday at Chainda area under Dakshin Mithachari union in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.  

Dr Iftikhar Mahmood, founder and president of Hope Foundation and the government of Bangladesh including Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kamal Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ashraful Afsar, Civil Surgeon Dr Mahbubur Rahman, ADC (General) Masudur Rahman Mollah, Additional District Magistrate Shahjahan Ali, UNO (Ramu) Pronoy Chakma, and Upazila Family Planning Officer (Ramu) Dr Nobel Kumar Borua as well as mayor of Cox's Bazar Mujibur Rahman, District Awami League president Advocate Sirajul Mostafa, senior Journalist Tofayel Ahmed, General Secretary of Cox's Bazar Press Club Mohammed Abu Taher, country director of Hope Foundation K M Zahiduzzaman and other senior officials of Hope Foundation joined the inaugural ceremony in Cox's  Bazar through a digital platform, according to a press release.

Dr Iftikhar Mahmood said local coronavirus positive pregnant women, children and other patients with moderate and mild symptoms will get primary treatment from the centre. 

“Pregnant women with Covid-19 can safely give birth here,” he added.

Since 1999, Hope Foundation has been providing quality health services to vulnerable women and children in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban districts, the press release added.
