Int’l standard nursing institute to be set up at Nawabganj, says PM adviser Salman

Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman on Tuesday said an international standard nursing institute will be established at Nawabganj Upazila in Dhaka aiming at increasing the number of skilled nurses in the country.

"Along with female nurses, male nurses will be trained up at the planned institute as there is a huge demand of male nurses in the world alongside female nurses," he said while inaugurating as the chief guest Agrasar (Advance) Dohar-Nawabganj Telemedicine Services through videoconferencing.

Rahman said, "We have to keep the economic wheel moving by facing the Covid-19 pandemic instead becoming scared of it."
He also laid emphasis on controlling coronavirus by following health regulations.

Rahman, also a member of parliament, said he has a plan to provide modern telemedicine services to the people of Dohar and Nawabganj, the two upazilas that constitute his parliamentary constituency (Dhaka-1).

All community clinics in the two upazilas will be synchronised with the respective Upazila Health Complex through internet so that people living in remote areas can avail health services from doctors of the health complexes through videoconference, he said.

The PM adviser also said he is thinking of bringing the people of the two upazilas under health insurance coverage.

Hailing the activities of Agrasar Dohar-Nawabganj Telemedicine Services, he said it proved that many good jobs can be done through united endavour.

Rahman said different initiatives have been taken from the early stage of coronavirus pandemic to keep the inhabitants of Dohar and Nawabganj safe.

Secretary of the Health Education and Planning Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Md. Ali Noor, the special guest at the programme, said a proposal has already been sent to set up an international-standard nursing institute at Dohar.

He also said installation of a PCR lab for the people of Dohar and Nawabganj is under active consideration.

Noor also appreciated the activities of Agrasar Dohar-Nawabganj telemedicine services.

Woman affairs secretary of Dhaka district Awami League Labonno Bhuiyan, among others, spoke on the programme moderated by the chief news editor of 71 TV.

Upazila Nirbahi Officers of two upazilas and people from different professions including, doctors, engineers, journalists, lawyers and teachers got connected in the programme.
