Nilphamari Covid-19 patient found working in Narayanganj

A man, who was diagnosed with coronavirus in Nilphamari, has been found working at a textile mill in Narayanganj, ignoring his health conditions.

Manjurul Islam, 25, is a resident of Tengonmari village in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari.

The development came to light on Saturday night, when a medical team came to his house with an ambulance to take him to the isolation unit of the hospital but could not find him.

Locals said Manjurul, along with 13 members of his family, came to his village on May 10 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

On May 24, a medical team collected samples from the man and his family members. After Eid, Manjurul and his family members returned to his workplace.

On Saturday, Manjurul's test result came out positive.

When contacted over phone, Manjurul said he is now doing well and working at a textile mill in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj, said Dr Abu Hasan Mohamamd Rezwanul Kabir, Jaldhaka Upazila Health and Family Planning officer.

Narayanganj administration was informed about the development later.

Bangladesh on Sunday reported 2,545 coronavirus cases and 40 deaths --  the highest for a single day.
