Private vehicles to be allowed to cross district lines: Rab

Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Friday said people can go to their village homes in their private vehicles on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Private cars or vehicles can be used but public transport cannot be used," the DG Rab said at an online views-exchange programme with reporters.

The Rab DG briefed the journalists over the law and order measures adopted ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr amid the coronavirus fallout.

He said they are carrying out awareness campaigns over prevention of coronavirus, in addition to regular activities like patrolling and conducting check-posts.

Besides, the force is conducting mobile courts in Dhaka and other parts of the country against illegal and low-standard mask, hand sanitizer, and hand gloves as well as price hikes of essential commodities, he

said.

A total of Tk 2 crore was fined during the drives, he revealed.

About containing rumors on social media, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said their cyber monitoring cell has been conducting virtual patrolling.

He urged the countrymen not to like, share or make any comment over any issue on social media without understanding it properly.

“Don’t make comment, share or give like for any information on social media without understanding," he said, adding that those who disobey the instruction will be brought under justice.

The DG Rab also called upon the people to stay at home on the Eid day for the sake of their own safety, their children as well as for their neighbors’ safety.
