BDRCS sends hand washing messages, kits to Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) has sent hand washing messages to some 3.25 lakh forcibly displaced Rohingya nationals at 34 camps in Cox’s Bazar alongside providing them with hand washing kits to prevent and control Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As part of its ongoing operations to prevent COVID-19, the volunteers of BDRCS sent hand washing messages to the Rohingya nationals alongside conducted hand washing sessions at all the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar, distributed awareness leaflets and posters, said a press release here on Friday.

The Society distributed around 54,446 hand washing kits including soaps and hand sanitizers among the Rohingyas including 313 community and religious leaders.

Meanwhile, to provide treatment to the possible affected patients of COVID- 19, the Society has taken a plan to set up one 30-bed and another 50-bed isolation centers in the camp areas in support of its movement partners. Besides, the Society is also assisting the government in setting up a 50-bed isolation center at Ramu in Cox’s Bazar with help from its movement partners.

The BDRCS is conducting such efforts under its population movement operations. The Red Crescent field hospitals and health posts will continue to provide treatment for the general patients.

Meanwhile, the volunteers of BDRCS today sprayed disinfectant at IEDCR, DGHS, Kawran Bazar, Shantinagar Bazar, Malibagh Bazar and other parts of the capital as part of its series of operations to fight and control COVID-19.

Besides, the volunteers of the society are conducting various awareness campaigns across the country like motivating people to maintain social and physical distancing, installing basins in various areas to facilitate hand washing, spraying disinfectants at hospitals, hat-bazars, mosques, temples, churches and other places of gatherings.
