Shakib launches charity foundation for coronavirus-hit people

Stellar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has stepped into the war against the life-threatening novel coronavirus with the launch of a charity organisation in his name on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night.

The ace cricketer has inaugurated the logo of the charity on social media. He has named his charity organisation ‘The Shakib Al Hasan Foundation,’ under which he is going to assist a project titled ‘Mission Save Bangladesh.’

The project will help people affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus at a time when the entire country is battling to tame the coronavirus pandemic. Countless underprivileged people waiting for the pandemic to end so that they can return to normal life.

The Shakib Al Hasan Foundation has taken steps towards fundraising from different well-off people and organisations at home and abroad. It has also extended its helping hand towards the distressed.

“The Shakib Al Hasan Foundation will work for the development of the people of Bangladesh. We can address anything in tandem. Come and work as a single unit. We can save Bangladesh by utilising our voices and hands,” Shakib wrote in his post.

Noting that volunteer organisations are active all over the world round the year, Shakib mentioned former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, whose McGrath Foundation primarily works to create awareness among about breast cancer.

Former Australian leg-spin wizard Shane Warner, former Australian speedster Bret Lee, and former Australian captain Steve Waugh have also founded their respective charity foundations, he noted.

The Steve Smith Foundation of Australia has also come forward to curb the calamity spawned by the coronavirus. Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is also working during this moment of crisis through his Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Like them all, Shakib Al Hasan will also be ascended into the field of the global stage. But his prime objective is to ensure a safe life and develop the people of Bangladesh.
