For the first time, the government of Bangladesh has appointed a female official to the Economic Relations Division (ERD) as its 25th secretary yesterday.
Vice Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh Fatima Yasmin, an additional secretary of BCS administration cadre, has been promoted to the post of secretary and has been posted as ERD secretary, according to a notification issued by the ministry of public administration yesterday.
She will be replacing the current ERD Secretary Monowar Ahmed, who will go on Post Retirement Leave (PRL) on February 22 this year.
Meanwhile, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Aminul Isalm Khan was made secretary of the ministry of liberation war affairs yesterday. Fatima Yasmin, who joined the cadre in 1988, also worked as Director General (DG) of the Institute of Public Finance (IPF).
She served in various capacities in the ministries of agriculture, women and children affairs, defense, finance division and economic relations division.
Yasmin was a Hubert H Humphrey Public Policy Fellow of the US State Department for the year 2004-05 at The Rutgers University, USA.
