Bangladesh in the previous edition could qualify in the semifinal but was eliminated after going to down to their today’s opponents Palestine who were the champions last year.

Jamie Day, the head coach of Bangladesh, is looking forward to shore up their defense following their debacle at the last few minutes in the previous some matches, as markers laid down.

Both the coach and the captain Jamal Bhuyian seek to sharpen their attacking prowess ahead of their all-important Group A opening contest today.

“I think Palestine are not the same team they were last year, they are favorites tomorrow, we will play well behind the support of Bangladesh people and have an advantage to play at home ground and we have chance to win the game,” said Jamie.

“Palestine are strong team, we played them before and lost but boys did well. We fought hard and played with intensity against an organised and quick side,” said Jamie.

“We have no concerned but Jibon and Badshah are sick and we have good replacement hope they will do their job perfectly.”

“The main concern of tomorrow’s match will be the impressive quick bursts of pace with several efforts throughout the 90 minutes but I am confident that our players have a lot more to give against Palestine. It would be a great challenge ahead of our anticipation to go forward,” Jamie replied to a query.

Jamie replying to a query about the feeble efforts of the forwards at the finishing hour said, “This is one area we particularly need to improve on. We created chances, but were unable to take them, so we need to be sharper in front of goal if we are to get a result in this important match to qualify to the next stage.”

For these lacking Jamie said due to most of the foreign players are playing in the striking position in league, so he urged the BFF and the club also to consider the inclusion of local players.

Jamal “Yes, of course we want to win, this is hundred years of Bangabandhu, we feel proud to play the tournament and it would be great if we can win the trophy. We go into the game with winning is our sole objective."

“So we want to win the tournament, everybody knows what we did in the SA Games, so this is the good moments to recover and will have to prove what they can,” said Jamal.

Palestine coach Makaram Daboub did not talk much but to say, “Before a year we were champions, again we came here to be champions.”

“We have six players of national team, as many from the Olympic team and rest of are from different league players but we have confident with these players,” said Makaram. Palestine midfielder Md Oa Darwish, who plays for Hannover FC in Bundesliga, says this is first time he is representing the national team despite he was born and brought up in Germany. “Definitely we are here to retain the trophy.”

Coaches of Seychelles and Mauritius, and the manager of Sri Lanka also talked and  also expressed their optimistic to win.

Francis Filho, head coach of Mauritius, said, “We have a team comprised with young and experienced and hope will play well. They will play attacking game and will do everything to win.”
