Four noted theatre personalities to be honoured at the closing ceremony

Curtain falls on ‘Natuner Utsab 2019’ today

The curtain will fall on ‘Natuner Utsab 2019’ today. Featuring new seven theatre productions, a seven-day long theatre festival is set to conclude this evening at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The closing ceremony of the festival will be held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA, where theatre personality Tariq Anam Khan, playwright professor Abdus Selim and senior members of the troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya will be present as special guests. Presided over by Abul Hayat, convener of the festival, vice president of Nagorik Natya Sampradaya Sara Zaker will deliver speech at the programme.

Organised by Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, one of the prominent theatre troupes in the country, the festival has been arranged with the support of Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Unilever, Berger Paints and Dhaka Bank Limited.

Four noted theatre personalities-- Ferdousi Majumdar, Josna Biswas, Lucky Inam and Shimul Yousuff--will be honoured at the  closing ceremony of the festival.

On the other hand, the participating theatre troupes in the festival are--Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, Sunamgonj Proscenium O Bandhan Theatre, Nagorik Natyangan Bangladesh, Parishar, Prachyanat, Manipur Theatre and Mangaldeep Foundation.

Following the closing ceremony, Mangaldeep Foundation will stage their play ‘Lottery’ directed by Mustafiz Shahin at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of BSA.

During the festival, Pantho Shahriar’s ‘Kalo Joler Kabbo’, Shamim Shagor’s ‘Radharomon’, Dr Ratan Siddique and Hridi Huq-directed ‘Akashey Phuitese Phul-Letokahon’, Saidur Rahman Lipon’s ‘Aruproton’, Kazi Toufiqul Islam Emon’s ‘Khwabnama’ and Shubasish Sinha’s ‘O Monpahia’ were staged during the festival.
