A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh area early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nadim, 38.
Tipped-off, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive in the area to recover drugs around 4am, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost.
Criminals opened fire as soon as the elite force reached the area, triggering a skirmish.
Nadim was caught in the line of fire and suffered gunshot wounds.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
