NCL: Khulna trail by 27 runs with 7 wickets in hand against Dhaka on day-2

Title aspirant Khulna Division trialing by 27 runs with seven wickets remaining against their main contenders Dhaka Division on the 2nd day of  the title deciding 6thand final round Tier-1 match of the National Cricket League (NCL)  Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Sunday.

In a Tier-2 match of the league, Sylhet Division earned a convincing nine–wicket victory over Chattogram Division on the very 2nd day of the four-day affairs at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Sunday

In Tier-1 League, Dhaka Division resumed the first innings with overnight total 273 for 7 and wereall out for 279 runs in 93.1 overs, adding only six runs to their credit on 2nd day (Sunday).

Overnight batsman cum captain Shuvagata Hom, who was on batting with 56 runs, contributed 60 runs off 97 balls with help of five boundaries.

Ziaur Rahman, who grabbed two wickets on the first day (Saturday), finally claimed four wickets for 24 runs, apart from Abdul Halim’s five wickets haul.

In reply, league leader Khulna Division opened the first innings Sunday morning and posted 252 for 3 in 84 runs at the end of day-2, featuring two good partnerships in the opening and the 4th wicket stands.

National colored opener Anamul Haque Bijoy pairing with RobiulIslam scored 82 runs in 33.4 overs in the first wicket stand while former national cricketer Tushar Imran pairing with Nurul Hasan contributed an unbeaten 121 runs in the 4th wicket stand.

Two dowm Tushar Imran hammered an unconquered 75 runs off 119 balls featuring nine fours, number five Nurul Hasan scored an unbeaten 56 runs off 92 balls with seven fours and one six, one down Anamul Haque Bijoy made 50 runs off 101 balls hitting seven fours and one six while Ajit Majumber scored 21 with four fours.

Shuvagata Hom captured two wickets for 25 runs while Nazmul Islam took one for 89 runs.

Brief score: Dhaka Division 1st innings: 279 all out in 93.1 overs (overnight score 273/7) Taibur 110, Mazid 66, Shuvagata 60, Abdul Halim 5/27, Ziaur 4/24)

Khulna Division: 252 for 3 in 84 overs; Tushar Imran not out 75, Nurul Hasan not out 56, Anamul Haque 50, Robiul Islam 45, Ajit Majumder 21, Shuvagata Home 2/25, Nazmul Islam 1.89.

In a Tier-2 match of the league, Sylhet Division earned a convincing nine–wicket victory over Chattogram Division on the very 2nd day of the four-day affairs at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Sunday.

Replying to Chattogram Division’s first innings total 106 runs, Sylhet Division resumed the first innings with overnight 186 for 5 and were all out for 230 runs in 65 overs with overnight batsman Asadullah Al Galib making 40 and Rahatul Ferdous not out 39 runs.

Irfan Hossain claimed six wickets for 95 runs while Shahkawat Hossain took two wickets for 12 runs.

Later, Chattogram Division opened the 2nd innings and were bundled out cheaply again for 165 runs in 51.1 overs featuring 66 runs by captain Irfan Sukker, 62 runs by Sadikur Rahman. 

An 18-year-old rookie left arm pace bowler Ruyel Miah of Sylhet, who came to limelight on the first day (Saturday) making the best figure of 8/26 in the first class cricket, again displayed his brilliant grabbing five wickets for 39 runs in the 2nd innings and was adjudged man of the match.

With a poor target of 42 runs to win, Sylhet Division opened the 2nd innings and easily reaches theur ultimate goal scoring 45 runs for the loss on one wicket in 5.5 overs.

Chattogram 1st innings: 106/10 in 35.1 overs; Tasamul 21, Irfan 21, Ruyel 8/26,

2nd innings- 165 all out in 51.1 overs: Irfan 66, Sadiqur 62, Sajjadul 10, Ruyel 5/39,

Sylhet 1st innings: 230 all out in 65 overs (Overnight 186/5), Amite 55, Alok 41, Galim 40, Rahatul not out 39, Ifran 5/95, Shakawat 2/12.

2ndinnings : 45 for 1 in 5.5 overs; Shahnaj not out 18, Imtiaz 14, Towfiq not out 11.

In another Tier-1 league match at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadiumm in Rajshahi, hosts Rajshahi Division were trailing by 50 runs with five wickets in hand against   Rangpur Division on day-2.

Rangpur Division resumed the first innings with overnight 263 for 8 and were all out for 274 runs in 89.4 overs.

In reply, hosts Rajshahi Division scored 224 for 5 in 77 overs at the end of the 2nd day (Sunday)

Rajshahi Divisin 1st innings- 224 for 5 in 77 overs; Farhad Hossain 75, Avishek 67, Junaid 37, Sabbir not out 22, Ariful 3/37.

In another Tier-2 league match, Dhaka Metro were trailing by 189 runs against hosts Barishal Division on day-2 at the Abdur Rab Seniabad Stadium in Barishal on Sunday.

Barishal Division resumed the first innings with overnight 338 for 6 and were all out for 414 runs in 108. 2 overs .

In reply, Dhaka Metro scored 225 for 2 in 69 overs when the bails were draw for the 2nd day Sunday featuring 157 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.
