Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, Shirin Akther, mother of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, urged the authorities concerned to execute it quickly.
“I would to thank Hounourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Alhamdulillah, I’m so happy with the verdict,” she said.
Shirin Akther also thanked media, administration and people for supporting her in having the verdict.
“Now I want the verdict to be executed speedily. The Prime Minister told us that no criminal will be spared. I pray for all those who demanded justice for my daughter,” she added.
Nusrat was set on fire on April 6 on the roof of a madrasah she attended, allegedly by people loyal to its principal Sirajuddoula whom she had accused of sexually harassing her.
She succumbed to her injuries four days later at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
A case was filed with Sonagazi Police Station on April 8. Police pressed charges in court against 16 people on May 29.
A tribunal on Thursday sentenced all the 16 people to death for their roles in killing Nusrat.
