Pacer Khaled aiming to return with BPL

Pacer Khaled aiming to return with BPL

Right-arm medium fast-bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed said he is eyeing to return to his usual business with the next edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Khaled also said after a few days of his surgical operation he has been doing his rehabilitation that will be finished by November, over a month prior to the ensuing BPL.

He claims that he is 70 percent fit and the rest of the fitness he will achieve before the BPL.

“I am now at rehab that has no end. You have to continue it to keep me fit. Alhamdulillah, I am 70 percent right now,” said Syed Khaled Ahmed, who played two Tests for Bangladesh, considered to be one of the pace bowlers for the longer version after Mohammad Shahid.

“I am now under trainer Baijadul Islsm. I am doing what he suggests me. It will not be right gone beyond his suggestion,” Khaled told media after his gym session at the national cricket academy of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

“I will be released towards the end of November. Hopefully everything will be finished in the meantime. And then, I will start bowling. If BPL is held, I hope to return with BPL,” he added.

The way he is working on sand pitch, gym, running, weight-lifting, squatting and leg pressing as a part of rehab, he hopes he will be complete fit ahead of the domestic Twenty20 Cricket Tournament which is scheduled to roll onto the ground on December 6.

Khaled billed the miss of games for the national team, A team and National Cricket League as a frustrating one, saying that he will make a comeback to the national fold by playing better cricket yet again.

“Really it is frustrating as I am out of the field for so long. I am missing not only NCL but also games of ‘A’ team beside the national team,” he said.

“There is no problem. Inshaallah, if I can perform well, I will then stage a comeback to the national team again,” he added.

Recalling his shocking memories of his injury, the 27-year-old said that he possibly drank less amount of water during their elite camp of the Ramadan month.

“We had camp in Ramadan month. I went home a day before the Eid day when I sustained injury while watching TV. At one time, I forcefully tried to get up and dislodge the ligament,” he said.

“I was fasting. Maybe I drank less amount of water during the early hours,” he also said.

When asked about holding any talk with the new fast-bowling coach Carl Langeveldt, Khaled said they will hold a discussion meeting today (Wednesday).

“I am yet to work with Carl Langeveldt. But we have a schedule to hold a meeting on October 9,” the right-handed bowler said.

“We held talk. During that talk, he told me to go on my work that I am doing under Baijadul bhai. We will see you later on,” he concluded.
