24 Rohingyas detained in Chattogram

Police detained 24 Rohingyas from Gobindarkhil area of Patiya Upazila in Chattogram on early Friday.

Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Patiya Police Station, said acting on a tip-off, they conducted a special drive around 4am and detained the Rohingyas.

They were later accused in a case for illegal intrusion into Bangladesh and produced before the court.

They have been residing in the area for a long time, the OC said.
