For the first time, Bangladesh will be sending one of its own confident and beautiful women to participate in the upcoming 68th edition of the Miss Universe beauty pageant in South Korea, said a press release.

Opening up a great opportunity in the global platform, Miss Universe Bangladesh grand finale will be held on  October 23 in the capital and the winner will participate in Miss Universe pageant.

 ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh’ was officially launched yesterday at a media conference held at Hotel Sonargaon. Hadi S A Chowdhury, Head of Retail Operations of Yellow; Tootli Rahman, Chairperson of Bangladesh Heritage Craft Foundation; Rizwan Bin Farouq, Chairman of Miss Universe Bangladesh; Mustafa Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Flora Bank; Sohel A Chaklader, Managing Partner of Miss Universe Bangladesh and Nazim Farhan Chowdhury, Managing Partner of Northbrook Consultants Ltd attended the press conference.

Rizwan Bin Farouq chairman of ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh’ said, “Miss Universe Bangladesh will feature some of the most beautiful, intelligent, elegant, talented and confident women of our country. The motto of Miss Universe is ‘Confidently beautiful’.”

He further stated that in the Grand Finale, Bollywood superstar and Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen will be present as one of the judges and crown the winner.

It was also revealed that through social media (Facebook) 1.6 million has seen the post and 8,000 interested women from all over the country have registered online. The registration process will conclude on September 15.

Unmarried women between the age of 18 to 28 will be able to participate in the competition.

‘Miss Universe Bangladesh’ will be aired on private television channel RTV.

Flora Bank, a leading software platform for Banks has acquired the title sponsor of the event.
