Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a folk musical show titled ‘Baul-er Konthe Bangabandhu’ (Bangabandhu through the vocal of Baul) on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital on Friday.

Dedicating to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the event was arranged as a part of the monthly ‘Sadhu Mela’. Began at 5pm, the show continued till 10pm. 10 songs written on Bangabandhu and martyrs of 15 August as well as 10 songs containing the spiritual message of Lalon Shai were presented at the programme.

Prominent Lalon singers Shafi Mandal, Tun Tun Fakir, Abdul Latif Shah, Samir Baul, Diti Sarkar and BSA’s Baul troupe performed at the programme.

The programme was attended by Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Mohammad Akhteruzzaman, researcher and columnist Monayem Sarker, journalist, columnist and researcher Syed Abul Moksud and BSA secretary Badrul Alam Bhuiyan, among others.

Legendry mystic bard Baul king Lalon Shah used to gather his followers and friends on the ‘Purnima Tithi’ (full moon). In memory of Lalon Shah, BSA has been organising the ‘Sadhu Mela’ every month from the beginning of 2019.
