Enemies are taking benefits of the disunity among the Muslims, the prime minister’s adviser on private industries and investment, Salman F Rahman, has said. “Allah has given huge resources to us Muslims. But owing to our lack of unity, enemies are using these resources and taking benefits,” he said.

Rahman, a member of parliament elected from Dhaka-1 constituency, was speaking as chief guest at a workers' meeting at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital, yesterday. The event was organised by Bangladesh Ahl-i-Hadeeth Juba Shangha, the youth wing of Ahl-i-Hadeeth Movement Bangladesh. “Muslims are internationally being vilified by different quarters because of their own actions. We all know how Islam is being maligned. We all have to stop this collectively,” he said.

Citing some Hadith, the PM’s adviser urged all Muslims to follow the personality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“If all the Muslims maintain the characteristics of Muhammad (PBUH), we could stay united. We are creating problems by our own mistakes. By following Muhammad's personality, Muslims can resolve all their problems,” he said.

Rahman also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has become a role model in the world in terms of development. “Whenever I visit any country with the prime minister, the president or premier of that country praises Sheikh Hasina for ushering in unbelievable development in Bangladesh in the past 10 years,” he added.

Speaking at the program, Dr Mohammad Asadullah Al Galib, founder president of Bangladesh Ahl-i-Hadeeth Juba Shangha and Emir of Ahl-i-Hadeeth Movement Bangladesh, said social discrepancies and injustices cannot be thwarted without the widespread spreading of Islamic values and teachings.

He also said crimes like drug abuse, rapes, extortions and various malpractices can only be stopped if people became more religious and abide by religious practices.

“No social discipline can thwart these crimes. Only religious practices can,” he added.  He urged the government to make Islamic studies compulsory at all levels of education.
