Plan underway to set up a museum on Humayun Ahmed: Ahsan Habib

The 7th death anniversary of playwright, writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed was observed on Friday.

Family members of the preeminent writer, and fans chalked out various programmes marking the mourning day.

Humayun Ahmed’s younger brother cartoonist Ahsan Habib, brother-in-law Afroza Amin, sister Sufia Haider, Roksana Ahmed, Anyaprokash CEO Mazharul Islam and actor Syed Hasan Sohel, among others offered special prayers at the writer’s graveyard, paying homage at Nuhash Palli.

Ahsan Habib informed, “We are planning to set up a museum on Humayun Ahmed. An archive has already been created. This archive will be helpful for them who wants to do research on Humayun Ahmed. We could not fulfil all the dreams of Humayun Ahmed, but many of his dreams have been implemented.”

He then requested to publishers and concerned persons to publish the writings of Humayun Ahmed accurately.

On the occasion, doa mahfil, Quran recitation, distribution of foods in the orphanage and distribution of leaflets on cancer awareness was arranged by his family at Nuhash Palli.  

Himu Paribahan, a platform of Humayun fans, went to the Nuhash Palli for paying their due respect to the writer. 60 members of Himu Paribahan from Gazipur, Dhaka, Norshingdi and Faridpur went to Nuhash Palli. They campaigned for creating awareness about cancer to the mass people in their journey.

Different television channels aired various programmes highlighting the life and works of the wordsmith.

Humayun Ahmed was born in Netrakona’s Mohanganj to Foyzur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Foyez on November 13, 1948.  

The writer died of cancer at a hospital in New York on July 19, 2012.
