Professor Anu Muhammad, member secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports, received phone call yesterday demanding money and making threats on his family if he did not pay up. The phone call was allegedly made by top terrorist Subrata Bain.

Anu Muhammad, also professor of Economics department of Jahangirnagar University, disclosed the matter in a facebook post around 11.00am.

According to his post, a man called him at 10am yesterday from a number bearing the country code of India. The man identified himself as top-terror Subrata Bain, residing in Kolkata and demanded money for treatment of ‘chhoto bhai’ or younger cohorts. The man also threatened to abduct his family members if he does not give the money, wrote Anu Muhammad in his post. When contacted, Anu Muhammad said he will file a general diary with the police for his security.

“The threat was likely made due to my activities to protect the natural resources of Bangladesh. Some groups who are against my activities may have hatched this conspiracy,” the professor said, adding that he will continue the activities for the betterment of the country.
