Selim new president and Nasim general secretary again

Actor Shahiduzzaman Selim is the new president of the Obhinoy Shilpi Sangha, a platform for the artistes of television drama. Besides, actor Ahsan Habib Nasim has been elected as the general secretary for the second consecutive time.

The result of the bi-annual election of Obhinoy Shilpi Sangha was announced around 8:30pm on Friday night after the day-long voting from 10am to 5pm on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. Among the 606 members of the organisation, a total of 518 members cast their votes.

Selim got 325 votes for the post of president against his opponents, actor Tushar Khan and Mohammad Mizanur Rahman.

As the general secretary Nasim got 422 votes, while his nearest opponent Mohammad Hannan got 35 votes.

The three posts of vice-presidents were won by Azad Abul Kalam (344), Iqbal Babu (278) and Tania Ahmed (243). Actors Rawnak Hasan (284) and Anisur Rahman Milon (216) were elected to the two posts of joint-secretaries.

Actor Lutfor Rahman George was earlier elected uncontested to the post of organising secretary as there was no opponent candidate against him.

Other elected members for the different posts in the new committee are: finance secretary-Mohammad Nur A Alam (322), office secretary-Sheikh Merajul Islam (177), programme secretary-Rashed Mamun Apu (229), law and welfare secretary-Shamima Tusty (202), publicity and publication secretary-Pran Roy (242), information and technology secretary-Sujat Shimul (310).

Seven-elected executive members of the new committee are: Nadia Ahmed (363), Selim Mahbub (355), Zakia Bari Mamo (276), Bonna Mirza (268), Munira Begum Memi (243), Shams Sumon (238) and Razib Salehin (229).

This year, the election commissioners were Khairul Alam Sabuj, Masum Aziz and Brindaban Das.
