Three men were arrested on Friday for allegedly gang-raping a mother of two in Doalia village of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district on Thursday night, UNB reports.

Police named the arrestees as Saiful Islam of Doalia village, Babu of Rudropur village, and Harun of Hirapur village. Police arrested Saiful and Babu with a firearm and bullet in the morning while Rab arrested Harun in the afternoon.

The victim has been admitted to Noakhali General Hospital where she’s undergoing treatment and medical tests.

She said her husband had a long-running dispute with criminals Harun, Saiful and Babu involving fish farming. “They’ve been threatening us for a while,” she said.

“They broke into our house around 10:30 pm and beat up my mother-in-law before raping me,” the victim said. “They also vandalised the house.”

Police visited the place after being contacted by the woman’s husband. They took the victim to the police station and then sent her to a hospital.

Begumganj police Station’s in-charge Firoz Alam Molla said the victim’s husband filed a case on early Friday naming the three men.
