Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on Wednesday said it is imperative for them to start their World Cup mission with a bang following their jaw-dropping victory in Ireland.

Mashrafe also said that wining in the tri-nation series in Ireland ahead of the extravaganza event will make them confident and provide impetus in their mind to fare well.

As of now they long for what he said the blessing of the country people which will help them reach at their ultimate target what they set to play at semi-final phase of the 50-over flagship event.

“Everybody wish for us. We will try our best to fare well so all we can play better cricket in the World Cup,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“We are all confident after winning the tri-nation series in Ireland. You all pray for us, pray for the Bangladesh team so that we could start a solid start,” Mashrafe told media at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday before flying to London.

“But tournament is different. So, starting is very important. If we could do so, hope something better result will be done, Inshallah,” he added.

Mashrafe returned home from Ireland just after winning the triangular series in Ireland to spend some more times with family. The captain flew again to England after ending his three-day-long stay to join the camp.

Even if Bangladesh are now in Leicester City, Mashrafe will directly go to London to attend the ICC’s captains’ summit. The captains of the participating teams of the mega event will face off world media at Film Shed in London on Thursday.

Bangladesh traveled to Cardiff from Leicester City today. They will be stayed under the ICC protocol. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will also join the team from Dubai on Thursday after spending his vacation with family in Dubai.

However, Bangladesh will play two practice matches sponsored by ICC against India and Pakistan on May 26 and 28 respectively in Cardiff before starting their World Cup journey.  

The Tigers will then return to London from Cardiff on May 29. They will embark on their World Cup mission against South Africa at The Oval on June 2.

Last time Bangladesh had played at the quarter-final stage of the in the 2015 World Cup in Down Under. This time they wish to play at the semi-final slot of the showpiece event on batsmen-friendly English condition.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will send both their selectors to the England World Cup. Of them, Habibul Bashar Sumon will fly to London today (Thursday). The chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu will thereafter fly. He will travel to United Kingdom (UK) after the conclusion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr as Nannu informed.
