For the first time in the country, the police headquarters (PHQ) is going to monitor cases of killing after rape, rape, and attempted rape of women and children to ensure proper investigation and punishment for the criminals.

Following instructions from the inspector general of police (IGP), the deputy inspector general (crimes) has called the investigating officers (IOs) of 20 cases involving such crimes, along with assistant superintendents of police (circle), to know about the progress in the investigations, sources said. The police headquarters has started monitoring such incidents at a time when they are showing a rising trend.
