Five-day puppet theatre festival underway at Shilpakala

Marking the World Puppet Theatre Day, which will be observed today, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a five-day puppet festival titled ‘National Puppet Theatre Festival’ on the academy premises in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Beginning on March 19, a number of 24 troupes from across the country are participating in this five-day festival.

Yesterday, puppet troupes Hridoy Jhumur Jhumur Putul Nach from Dhaka, The Azad Putul Nach from Bagerhat, Jagoron China Putul Natyadal from Dinajpur, Jhumur Bina Putul Nach from Brahmanbaria, Kajoli opera Putul Nach from Lalmonirhat, Monika Putul Natyadal from Kurigram, Bijli Rani Opera Putul Nach from Rajshahi performed at the festival.

Today, the festival will feature discussion, award ceremony and puppet shows.

The festival, which is free to all, starts at 11am daily.
