Prisoner ‘commits suicide’ at Barishal jail

A prisoner reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Barishal jail on Friday morning, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Kabir Shikdar, 35, son of Dalil Uddin of Jamirtola village in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur district.

Barishal senior jail super Prasanto Kumar Banik said Kabir came to Barishal jail from Bhola jail on October 2, 2018 and he used to work here as a sweeper.

He was jailed for ten years in a theft case.

In the morning, he was found hanging at the kitchen of a building in the jail. When he was taken to Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital doctors declared him dead.
