A court here on Tuesday sent Masud Sayedee, chairman of Indurkani upazila parishad and son of convicted war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee, to jail in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

Additional District and Session's Judge Shamsul Haque passed the order when Masud surrendered before his court on expiry of his six-week bail obtained from the High Court.

Tipped off that Masud along with other Jamaat-e-Islami leaders was holding a secret meeting at a house at Saidkhali village in Indurkani upazila on the night of December 25, police conducted a drive there and arrested two Jamaat men along with five petrol bombs and some crude bombs, said prosecution lawyer Advocate Khan Md Alauddin.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Masud managed to flee the scene, he said.

The following day, officer-in-charge of Indukani Police Station filed a case accusing three named and 12 unnamed Jamaat men, including Masud.UNB.
