Abahani Club Limited formed comparatively the best team on paper for the looming Dhaka Premier League 2018-2019 season by picking their expected players from the DPL players’ draft that held at a local city hotel yesterday. The defending champions picked a total of 10 players including seven from the draft, where on-song Mehidy Hasan Miraj, fast-bowler Rubel Hossain, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin are in the Abahani’s line-up along with their retention players-Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.

The Dhanmondi-outfit spent a staggering of around 21 crore taka (20,900,000) according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source. They roped in fast-bowler Rubel Hossain and wicketkeeper-batsman Jahurul Islam Omi in their third calls of the round-1 at the hour-long draft session. They picked on-song Mehidy Hasan Miraj and Delwar Hossain in their first callings of the round-2. Apart from that, the Dhanmondi-based team in-form Mohammad Mithun and Tipu Sultan in their fourth callings of the round-3. They finally picked pace all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin in their ninth calling from round-4 before passing their second calling. They therefore didn’t call in the rest of the three rounds of the draft.

Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Prime Bank Cricket Club also formed a good team by spending a bit more than Abahani Limited. Of them, Lt Sheikh Jamal paid out Tk 22,100,000 on local players, Mohammedan disbursed Tk 21,200,000 and Prime Bank expended Tk 21,800,000 on players to pick from the draft.

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), who promoted to premier division after a long hiatus, formed the most low budget team for the DPL, where they spent only Tk 3,850,000.

All-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad, Taijul Islam, Syed Khaled Ahmed and fit-again all-rounder Nasir Hossain were the big names’ players picked by Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who grabbed the highest number of 17 players for their DPL team, where they bought 14 players from the draft.

Liton Kumar Das, Shafiul Islam and Mohammad Ashraful was picked by Mohammedan Sporting Club as the big name players, whilst Anamul Haque Bijoy, Al Amin Hossain, Abdur Razzak and Nayeem Hassan was bought by Prime Bank as big-name players.

Runner-up Legends of Rupganj spent Tk 18,750,00 for the players’ draft, from where they picked 11 players coupled with their three retention players.

Uttara Sporting Club among newly-promoted teams spent Tk 8,750,000 to form their team for the DPL. They picked 10 players so far including seven from the players draft.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited: Ziaur Rahmam, Tanvir Haider, Nasir Hossain, Elias Sunny, Shahidul Islam, Imtiaz Hossain Tanna, Taijul Islam, Fardeen Hasan Oney, Mahmudullah Riyad, Anamul Haque, Salahuddin Sakil, Rakin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Minhajul Abedin Afridi, Hassanuzzaman and Mehrab Hossain Joshi.

Legends of Rupganj: Nayeem Islam, Asif Hassan, Nayeem Sheikh, Mominul Haque, Zakir Ali Anik, Mohammad Shohid, Shahriar Nafees, Nabil Samad, Asif Ahmed Ratul, Azmir Ahmed, Shuvashish Roy Chowdhury,  Muktar Ali, Minhazur Rahman Mohanna and Salauddin Pappu.

Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club: Forhad Reza, Marshall Ayub, Arafat Sunny, Taibur Rahman Parvez and Saif Hasan, Saikat Ali and Mahmudul Hasan Limon, Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi, Mohamamd Jasimuddin, Enamul Haque Jr, Forhad Hossain and  Arafat Sunny Jr,  

Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity: Robiul Islam Robi, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan Ankon, Tanvir Islam, Robiul Haque, Moinul Islam Sohel, Amit Majumdar, Masum Khan, Rafsan Al Mahmud, Nazim Uddin and Abdul Halim.

Gazi Group Cricketers: Imrul Kayes, Mehidy Hasan, Abu Haider Rony, Rony Talukdar,  Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Al Amin Hossain, Raihan Uddin, Shamsul Islam Anik, Mehadi Hasan Rana, Tasamul Haque Rubel and Waliul Karim Rony

Prime Bank Cricket Club: Ariful Haque, Zakir Hasan, Al Amin Jr, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Alok Kapali, Abdur Razzak, Nahidul Islam, Mohor Sheikh Antor, Al Amin Jr, Monir Hossain Khan, Salman Hossain Emon, Nayeem Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Milon, Nur Alam Saddam and Imran Ali.
