‘Komola Rocket’ awarded in Paris

After gaining accolades in various film festivals around the world, and now streaming on Netflix for the global audience, Noor Imran Mithu’s directorial debut film ‘Komola Rocket’ (The Orange Ship) won the Jury Prize at the sixth edition of Festival du Film d’Asie du Sud (FFAST) in Paris.

FFAST also known as the South Asian Film Festival took place from February 12 to 17 at Le Grand Rex cinema in Paris.

‘Komola Rocket’, a film based on the Bangla Academy Award winning writer Shahaduzzaman’s stories ‘Moulik’ and ‘Saipras’, has been produced by Impress Telefilm. The lead roles of ‘Komola Rocket’ are played by Tauquir Ahmed and Lux-Channel i Super Star contestant Samiya, while Mosharraf Karim is seen as an agent. The story of the film revolves around a steamer in the name of Rocket.

On the other hand, Indian filmmaker Hardik Mehta’s ‘Kaamyaab’ (Round Figure) from India won the Public Prize while the Canada-Pakistan film ‘ABU’, directed by Arshad Khan, won the Student Jury Prize at the festival.

Festival du Film d’Asie du Sud (FFAST) wants to break ideas and rehabilitate a film that is too often devalued and under-represented. A festival to break the stereotypes and showcase a cinema too often undervalued in France.

The festival aims to bring together a new generation of filmmakers who, in the context of national re-appropriation of the means of film productions, are making films which are surpassing those of Bollywood type in the box office for the first-time.
