Awami League (AL) Secretary General Obaidul Quader on Friday said the government is planning to announce 35 years to be the maximum age for applying for government jobs.

“An announcement in this regard will be made in the next month,” said Obaidul, also Road, Transport and Bridges Minister.

The minister came up with the comment when a 23-member team headed by Bangladesh General Students Council Central Committee Joint Convener Harun-ur-Rashid met him at the party chairman’s Dhanmondi office.

AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and AL praesidium member Matia Chowdhury were present during the meeting.

Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, “We are working to increase the maximum age for entry into government jobs from 32 years to 35 years as enunciated in the party’s election manifesto.”

“Wait… the age limit for entry to the government job will be increased within the shortest possible time,” Nanak told the visiting team.

Terming that the demand is ‘logical’, State Minister Khalid Mahmud expressed his hope that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give her nod within a couple of days.

Among the student representatives, Marjuk Hossain Milon, Sahabuddin Shihab, Bijit Shikder, Mukul Hossain, Fuad Alam were also present.UNB
