Man kills sister-in-law, tries to pass it off as robbery

Md Farhad Hossain Limon killed his sister-in-law on Friday after she refused to give money to him. Police yesterday said at a press briefing in Chattogram that Limon, 22, tried to portray the murder incident as a case of robbery, like the one he had seen in an Indian serial named ‘Crime Patrol’.   The police arrested Limon and identified the cause of the murder following as investigation. Hasina Begum, 32, wife of an expatriate, was killed in his flat at Kalirhat Goli No.1 under Akbar Shah Police Station in the port city. Md Manik, the brother of the deceased, filed a case with Akbar Shah Police Station.

Amena Begum, additional commissioner (Crime & Operation) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, said Limon escaped with ornaments and valuables after killing Hasina Begum.

“He used to watch ‘Crime Patrol’. He learned several techniques from the serial as to how to portray the murder incident as a robbery case. Limon tried to prove the incident as a robbery,” said Amena Begum.

“Limon was handed over to police for a five-day remand. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime and gave details of the murder,” said Amena Begum.

“We also recovered the ornaments and valuables,” she said.

“On the first day of the remand, Limon confessed that he had killed his sister-in-law. Limon said he killed Hasina because of his pent-up anger against her. Limon lived in another flat in the same building. That day, he came to watch TV and stayed for the night. night. It was pre-planned, he killed her and left the home with ornaments and valuables,” said Mohibur Rahman, sub-inspector, Akbar Shah Police Station, and the investigation officer of the case.

“He told us he regularly watched ‘Crime Patrol’ and planned the murder based on the techniques he had learnt from watching the serial,” added Mohibur Rahman.

At the press briefing held at the Dampara police line, among others, CMP additional deputy commissioner (West) Md Kamrul Islam, senior assistant Commissioner (Phartali Zone) Pankaj Barua, and Akbar Shah Police Station OC Jashim Uddin were present.
