Natya Teertha stages ‘Kongkal’ at Mahila Samiti today

Theatre troupe Natya Teertha will stage its 11th production ‘Kongkal’, the play adapted from a famous story by Rabindranath Tagore, today at 7pm at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samiti in the capital’s Baily Road area. The play is adapted by Robiul Alam and directed by Tapon Hafiz. The cast of the play includes Tapon Hafiz, Sadia Islam Santa, Shamsur Rahman Peru, Mahmudur Rahman, Ismail Ahmed Ayon, Maruf Tomal, Saifur Rahman, Shawon, Polash, Nurjahan Rahman Koli and Monalisha Mona.

Renowned theatre activist Faiz Zaheer designed the set for the production while Parimal Majumdar worked with the music. Mamunur Rashid has done the light designing while Parveen Lopa is in costume design and Samiun Jahan Dola is in the choreography.

Director Tapon Hafiz said, “When I read the story of Tagore’s ‘Kongkal’, I always think our body will transform into a skeleton one day. As a human being, if we do not do our own duties, then we should be considered a living skeleton.”

Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show.
