Fast bowler Rubel Hossain on Wednesday said that fast bowlers have winning ability what they proved at home and away on many occasions.

This time the wicket in ODI series will not be the same as Test series where Rubel said the pacers will be the main predator of the series.

“Pacers obviously have the capability to win ODIs and the pacers don’t only possess the ability but won matches too, like during the tour of West Indies,” said Rubel Hossain, who return to cricket after missing Zimbabwe series due to his ailment.

“The wicket won’t be spin friendly like in Test series so obviously the pacers can do it in these conditions as well in the ODIs,” Rubel told  media after their practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

“With the pacers we have in the team, we can obviously win the match for the team,” he added.

Asked about winning against Windies at a margin of 3-0, Rubel said that it’s not easy to say but the players are confident after winning the Test series in such an emphatic fashion.

“It’s not easy to say right now what will be the result (3-0 or 2-1). But we’ll take the field to win the series,” the right-handed pacer said.

“Our players are very confident right now. We won a very good Test series what will make our players confident, ” he also said.

“Actually we haven’t done anything like that (focusing on particular batsman). We’ve computer analyst who gives us videos of all the batsmen and we watch all of those videos. We watch all the batsmen and don’t single anyone out,” he replied in a query.

Bangladesh triumphed Test against West Indies by fielding four-pronged spinners without any frontline pacer, the fact that surprised all from fast-bowling coach to fast bowlers. Rubel though feels a bit disappointed for the fact said that it becomes a trend in Bangladesh to use spin on their flat track in Test.

“Actually it depends completely on the situation. The wicket was built that way to favour the spinners. Obviously it’s disappointing for the pacers that we could not play the matches when spinners did well,” the 28-year-old pacer said.

“But I feel that the ODIs will be different and the wickets will not be so spin-friendly.”

Rubel tipped death bowling as his main strength, stating that he attempted his best to tune his death bowling skills for the ensuing ODI series against West Indies.

“I’ve been playing international cricket for nine years. I’m working hard on death bowling as it’s my main strength since I’ve to bowl in the death overs,” he said.

“I those situations you can win the game but there is the chance to lose the game as well. So I’ve to keep my focus and I tried to sharpen my death bowling skills,” he continued.

Suggestions are rife in Bangladesh that pacers including Rubel Hossain do not want to play Test cricket on home soil. Rubel Hossain refused such suggestions and said that that is lie completely.

“It’s a complete lie,” he said.
