BTRC gives directive to close down 77,590 Teletalk SIMs

Bangladesh Telecommuni-cation Regulatory Commission (BTRC) yesterday gave a directive to close down the SIMs of the state owned Teletalk which were being used for illegal VoIP operation.

The Bangladesh Tele-communication Regulatory Commission came up with the directive as part of its ongoing campaign against illegal VoIP operation in which the law enforcers had seized and closed down a total of 77,590 SIMs Teletalk.

The regulator, teaming up with the law enforcers has used the state of the art CDR Analyzer and Geo-location Detection System to locate those SIMs.

A total of 33,534 SIMs were identified on November 18 and another 44,056 SIMs were identified on November 11 by the joint task force of Enforcement and Inspection Directorate.
