After a long wait, the much-talked-about film ‘Mr Bangladesh’ is finally set to hit more than 50 movie theatres across the country on November 16.

Based on a story about anti-extremism and terrorism, the film visualizes the tale of a vigilante called Mr Bangladesh, who serves self-perceived justice and inspires the people to fight against terrorism.

During a press meet held at the Cadet College Club Ltd in the capitals’ Gulshan area on Monday, the cast and crew of ‘Mr Bangladesh’ discussed more about the film and shared the unknown stories behind the scenes.

Producer and actor Khijir Hayat Khan, who played the titular role in the film, gave the welcome speech at the press meet.

Khan said that despite being a commercial film, ‘Mr Bangladesh’ tells a unique story and highlights a sensitive issue like terrorism. “I have played the role of the main protagonist, who is an ex-army officer. He lost his loved ones in a terrorist attack. Later, he becomes a vigilante who works as a journalist in the morning, but fights crimes and terrorism at night,” he added.

“Our film has songs, action, comedy and other elements of a commercial film. We’ve also discussed how the younger generation is being brainwashed to get involved in heinous acts of terrorism,” he said.

“Our goal is not to make a hit film, but to show the harmful effects of terrorism to the young generation. If any person after watching this film feels that terrorism is not the way to bring peace, we will be successful,” he added.

One of the prominent lead casts of the film, Shahriar Ferdous Sazeeb, plays the role of the leader of a terrorist syndicate. “We have tried our best to perform in this movie. Now, I urge people to visit their nearest cinema halls to watch the film. We hope that everyone will enjoy the film and our performance,” he said.

Shanarei Devi Shanu said, “I have played the love interest of Mr Bangladesh in the film. I have tried to bring out the romance in the film through my acting. I hope the viewers will like it.”

Shamim Hasan Sarkar said, “I have played the role of Mr Bangladesh’s friend and office colleague. In the film, I have tried to ease serious tension. Such films are necessary in the current situation.”

Jaaz Multimedia chairman Abdul Aziz said, “I am a victim of terrorism myself. I know it does not end with some dead people, but it affects people all over the country in a chain reaction. It destroys many families. With these types of films, we want to bring changes in the society.”

With this film, actress Shanarei Devi Shanu and YouTube celebrity Shamim Hasan Sarkar will make their big screen debut. Tiger Robi, who caught the attention with his roles as villains in various films, will be seen playing a negative role in ‘Mr Bangladesh’.

Under the banner of KHK Productions, Abu Akhter Ul Iman made his directorial debut with ‘Mr Bangladesh’. The story and screenplay of the film have been written jointly by Khijir Hayat Khan and Hasnat Piash.

Jaaz Multimedia, a renowned film production and distribution house, is going to distribute the film.
