Ayub Bachchu, a legendary guitarist, songwriter, singer and founder of rock band LRB, passed away at his Moghbazar residence in Dhaka on Thursday morning at the age of 56, reports UNB.

Dr Mohammad Nazim Uddin, spokeperson of Square Hospitals Ltd, said the driver of Ayub Bachchu brought him at the hospital around 9:40 am and doctors declared him dead around 9:55 am.

The legendary singer had been suffering from cardiac disease for long and the performance rate of his heart was 30 percent, he said.

Now the body of the singer has been kept at the mortuary of the hospital, he added.

Bachchu, the lead guitarist of musical band 'LRB' (Love Runs Blind), was born in Chattogram on August 16, 1962.

Ayub Bachchu made his debut in the music industry by giving voice in the song 'Harano Bikiler Golpo'.

In 1986, he released his first music album 'Rakto Golap'. His success story began when his second album 'Moyna' was released.

He came close to listeners by releasing the third album 'Koshto' in 1995. The album was super hit. The song 'Koshto Pete Bhalobasi' touches the listeners' heart very much.

Ayub Bachchu became a heartthrob singer overnight across the country for the heart touching song.

Basically, he was a rock singer, but he impressed the listeners with modern, classic and folk songs.

Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the popular singer.

In his message, the President prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor expressed profound shock at the death of the legendary singer.

In his message, he said Ayub Bachhu took the band song of Bangladesh to high level. His contributions to popularise the band music to the young people is immense. "The people of the country specially the young generation will remember him forever."

His fans also flooded the social media platform expressing their deepest condolences to the iconic figure of the country' music industry.

Bachchu performed live with Richard and Le Gang (France), Remo Fernandez, Nandon Bugchi, and Bikram Gosh of India; and Azam Khan (singer), Feelings (now Nogor Baul), Miles, Warfaze and many more.

He started his music career from his birth place Chittagong with the band Feelings in 1978. Then he joined the band Souls in 1980.

Leaving Souls in 1991, Bachchu formed LRB after 10 long years of practice for perfection.

LRB is the only Bangla rock band which played in famous Madison Square Garden in New York City.
