Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Kumar Das transformed his Asia Cup form into National Cricket League (NCL) as he smashed a scintillating 203-run knock that brought Rangpur Division back in the race against Rajshahi Division at the Sheheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi yesterday.

Rangpur put on 319 for two on the close of the third day of the round-2 of the Tier-1 fixture after their first innings’ 151 that meant they have required 119 runs to overtake Rasjahahi’s comprehensive first innings of 589.

Rajshahi added 170 more runs with their overnight 419-2 before declared their first innings on 589 for four in response to Rangpur’s scanty first innings 151. One-down Zunaid Siddique slammed an unbeaten hundred after Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mizanur Rahman. Zunaid successfully converted his overnight 39 to 100. He faced 199 deliveries to make 100 that contained six boundaries to be left indefatigable.

His overnight partner Forhad Hossain hit fifty-plus score after Juhurul Islam Omi.  Even though Rangpur’s bowlers failed to halt Rajshahi, their batsmen responded very well. They put up 98 runs in the opening stand of Liton Kumar Das and Jahid Jabed, who fell for 35.

Liton then shared a composed 219-run second wicket with Mahmudul Hasan before his dismissal. The national opener made 100 from 81 balls and 200 off 140 what he did in emphatic vein when he hit boundaries after a six in the first two deliveries of Taijul Islam, who sent back to the pavilion in the fourth-ball after a dot.

Mahmudul Hasan remained unbeaten on 72 with captain Sajedul Islam scoring two.

Barishal vs Khulna

Resuming the third day on 199-6, Khulna added 150 more runs at the cost of just one wicket before being called off the match at 1:00pm due to rain. Together with Afif Hossain, Ziaur Rahman pulled together 155 runs for the seventh-wicket stand that reached near to 350-run mark. Ziaur clouted a patient 246-ball 112 that featured with 13 fours and one six. Afif Hossain was at stump on 81.

Dhaka vs Metro

Sadman Islam Anik had missed an opportunity for making a double century as the young opener walked off the field after adding just three runs with his overnight 186. His 189 off 326 that laced with 21 fours and one six before being caught by Shuvagata Hom off Nazmul Islam.

Overnight batsman Mehrab Hossain Jr like Mohammad Ashraful failed to make fifty just for nine runs. Wicket-keeper Zabid Hossin was on 32 not out.

Salauddin Sakil snapped up four wickets, while Shahadat Hossain Rajib and Nazmul Islam Opu picked up two wickets each for Dhaka.

Dhaka in their second innings lost two wickets to 50 on board.
