Dhaka Theatre, one of the most popular theatre organisations in the country, is going to stage its much-acclaimed play ‘Dhaboman’ today evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play will be brought to the stage as a part of the ongoing 11-day ‘Ganga-Jamuna Cultural Festival’ 2018.

Written by Selim Al Deen, the play ‘Dhaboman’ is directed by Shimul Yousuf. Esha Yousuf plays the protagonist, Sohrab, a buffalo calf, which grows up to be the most powerful beast as well as a cherished asset for its master Nahbat. Selim Al Deen himself apparently considered Esha to be perfect for the role of Sohrab.

The probable cast of the play includes Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rosy Siddiqui, Chandan Chowdhury, Nasrin Nahar, Jayasree Bandyopadhyay, Sajjad Ahmed and Asaduzzaman Aman. Nasirul Haque Khokon is the lighting designer. Music and set design are done by Shimul Yousuf.

On the other hand, theatre troupe Shabda Natya Charcha Kendra will stage their play ‘Champabati’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA and Natyajuddha will stage their play ‘Osamapta’ at the Studio Theatre Hall at the same event at the same time.
