With the aim of bringing together the diverse works of Bangladesh’s artisans and highlight the country’s rich heritage and culture, Bangladesh Heritage Crafts Foundation (BHCF) is going to arrange a two-day exhibition titled ‘Heritage Hut’ on October 5 and 6 in the capital’s Gulshan 2 area.

On the occasion of upcoming exhibition, BHCF organised a press meet on September 30 at The Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave Club in Baridhara of the capital.

Members of the parliament Mainuddin Khan (Badal) and Nahim Razzak, wife of the Brazilian ambassador to Bangladesh Sandra Esteves Tabajara and BHCF president Tootli Rahman were present as speakers at the event.

Besides, 30 members of the executive committee of BHCF were also present at the press meet moderated by BHCF general secretary Alisha Pradhan.

The exhibition of BHCF is set to showcase various types of handicrafts and about 35 other items those represent the rich heritage of the country. The items on display will range from deshi textiles like Dhakai Jamdani, Rajshahi silks and muslins to household items made from Shitol-Pati and traditional items that are quintessentially Bangladeshi. There will be items from most regions of Bangladesh under one roof.

Bangladesh Heritage Crafts Foundation is a collaborative enterprise bringing together people who take pride in their heritage and are keen to uphold it while at the same time also providing a perfect platform for ambassadors from other countries to showcase their culture and heritage.

In this way, it will provide opportunity to know and learn more about the culture and heritage of each others. This is the first time that such a platform has been created to share ideas and display traditional items of our country with countries from abroad.

The exhibition ‘Heritage Hut’ will remain open to all everyday from 11am to 8pm, October 5 and 6.

To note, BHCF is a nonprofit foundation to resort, revive and boost the hundreds of years of old heritage and priced possessions in cottage industries as well as crafts of Bangladesh.

The objectives of the foundation are to facilitate, help income generates, support and engage a large number of highly skilled, yet nearly extinct craftsmen all around Bangladesh.

Where: House 1-B, Road 71 Gulshan 2

When: 11am-8pm, October 5-6
