At least six people, including three women and two minors, were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Muhuriganj in Chhagalnaiya upazila early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Jahanara, mother-in-law of a Qatar expatriate Sabuj, his sister Runa, niece popy, 16, two sons Shuvo, 7, Noman, 2 and micro-bus driver Abbas Uddin, 40, UNB reports

The accident took place around 3:30am when the Feni-bound truck collided with the Chattogram-bound microbus, leaving the six dead on the spot and the four injured, said Mohammad Nazrul Islam, superintendent of Cumilla regional highway police.

The police official said that Sabuj's family members were going to Chattogram Shah Amanat Airport for receiving him as he was coming from Qatar after two years.

The SP said the accident took place as the truck was moving on the wrong side of the road.
