Kamal for common platform to promote tourism in South Asia

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal on Friday stressed on forming a common platform to promote tourism in South Asian region.

“We should work together to expand tourism sector capitalizing rich history, heritage, cultural diversification and charming natural beauty,” he said while inaugurating the three-day Kolkata Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) as the chief guest at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, India, according to a message received in Dhaka.

Tourism Minister of Indian State of Bihar Promod Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Nikhil Ranjan Roy and top officials of different countries, among others, addressed the function.

Kamal said the South Asian region could be an excellent tourist hub through making the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) as an effective organization.

“There is huge potentiality of promoting tourism in the region….. Now we have to move collectively to turn South Asian region into tourist hotspots,” he added.

As many as 430 organizations from 13 countries and different Indian states are participating in the fair.
