Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organized a day-long programme marking the World Music Day featuring discussion and cultural programme on the day at its premises as part of the celebration.

The celebration of the day was inaugurated with the release of the balloons in front of the national drama centre of the academy while a huge number of artists enjoyed the piano performance by Timir Nandi at the same venue.

A discussion programme was also held in the auditorium of the national drama centre of BSA where cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended as the chief guest in the evening.

Musicologist Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, Momtaz Begum, Andrew Kishore, Gazi Abdul Hakim, Ayub Bachchu,  Sujit Mustafa, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya discussed while secretary of BSA Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury presided over the session.

Bangladesh Jatra Shlipi Forum presented instrumental music chorus directed by Chandan Dutta as part of BSA celebration while the audience enjoyed the solo piano performance by Ruposhi Mamtaj.

BSA children Troupe, Shishu Academy and Government Music College presented musical chorus as well, while two bands ‘Joler Gaan’ and ‘Gaan Pagol’ rocked the stage with their musical performances.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Musical Organisation Somonnoy Parishad also organised two-day long programme marking the day in the auditorium of the central library in Dhaka.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present in the programme at the premises of the central library as the chief guest in the afternoon while cultural affairs minister secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed and prominent singer Amzad Hossain spoke on the day.

The second day (June 22) of the celebration of the Parishad focused on Baul song and discussion while prominent cultural personality Kama Lohani took part in the inaugural programme as chief guest.

Alongside, Alliance Française de Dhaka celebrated ‘Fete de la Musique 2018’ which is globally known as ‘World Music Day’ with a series musical performance at its La Galerie on the day.

Aiming to integrate through the universal language of melody and rhythm, the Fete de la musique inspires an overture to a participative lyrical voyage by putting forward thousands of free concerts all over the world, said a press release.

More than 120 countries and around 350 cities partake in this event. This is the free ‘fête’, open to any participants, non-professional or professional musicians.

Like every year, Alliance Française de Dhaka organised a number of musical concerts - solo and group performances, as well as an open stage.
