Extremism must be overthrown: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Wednesday said militancy can be overthrown from the country through participatory politics.

“The government has brought the militants into book and if we are late in punishing them, militancy will be inspired. Killers of the Bangabandhu and the culprits responsible for 21 August grenade attack tried to halt the progress of the country through their atrocities but they did not succeed. They must be punished,” he said.

He made the remark at the National Press Club  on the occasion of 39th death anniversary of Mao Zedong, the founder of the Communist Party of China.

The minister said, “Only through socialism, we can make the country free from any kind of discriminations. We can follow China but we also have to design a model for our country.”

“Applying the political ideas of Mao Zedong and Chinese state policies in our country we can be a discrimination free state,” he added.

The discussion meeting, organised by Communist Party, was attended, among others, by the party's general secretary and former Industries Minister Dilip Barua, Chinese ambassador Ma Ma Mingqiang.

Mao Zedong governed the People's Republic of China as Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. His Marxist–Leninist theories, military strategies and political policies are collectively known as Marxism–Leninism–Maoism or Mao Zedong Thought.
