Justice sought for RU Prof Rezaul on his death anniv

Family, friends, colleagues and students arranged different progammes on the campus, marking the second death anniversary of Rajshahi University professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddique with a call for justice for the music and literary works enthusiast, reports UNB.

Suspected Islamist extremists hacked the English department teacher to death near his home in Rajshahi exactly two year ago on this day (April 23).

Hours into the killings of Professor Karim, militant group Islamic State claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Riyasat Imtiaz Sourav, son of the slain professor, later filed a murder case against anonymous people for the attack.

RU teachers, students are observing the day with various programmes. In the morning, they visited the spot where he was killed and sought peace for the departed soul.

A mourning rally also has been arranged on the campus.

On April 11, Rajshahi speedy trial tribunal fixed May 8 for delivering it verdict in Prof. Rezaul murder case.
