Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said no one will be spared if any incident of molestation of a college girl happened outside the meeting venue of their party in the city on Wednesday.

“No one was spared for such incidents during the present government’s tenure and no one will go unpunished if such incident happed yesterday (Wednesday),” he said while talking to reporters at the AL President’s Dhanmondi office.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, however, said their party is not responsible if any incident happens on a street of the city. “But the government has the responsibility in this regard. The Home Minister has said they were investigating the incident.”

Earlier on Wednesday, a college girl was sexually harassed at Banglamotor intersection reportedly by processionists on their way to an Awami League at the Suhrawardy Udyan.

In small processions, people from across the city joined the ruling party rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan organised on Wednesday marking the historic March 7.

A group of people from a procession molested a college girl at Banglamotor intersection while many took still and video footages of the incident in their mobile phones.

Later, the victim posted a status on her Facebook account describing the trauma she underwent.

The post reads, "Could not catch a bus even after waiting for one hour at Shantinagar intersection. Went to Banglamotor on foot only to find myself amid a procession. Around 15-20 people surrounded me...many were trying to take video clips and still photos of a girl in a college uniform being harassed. The button of my uniform tore off and the scarf was removed. They slapped me... my two hands couldn't save myself from so many hands. A police officer rescued me and helped me find a bus....there's no bruise in the body except severe pain. I'm mentally horrified but physically fit. I won't stay in the country of these pigs. I won't stay in the country of those who molest a girl shouting 'Joy Bangla'. Won't stay. Wont' stay...."
