No fresh initiative to woo political parties for JS polls: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda yesterday said his commission will not take any new initiative to ensure the participation of all political parties in the next general election. While addressing a meeting on law and order over the upcoming by-polls to Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria yesterday, the CEC also said that the Election COmmisison is not going to take any more new initiatives as the commission has already held dialogues with the political entities after he took office. “The commission hopes all political parties will contest the upcoming polls as we have urged them to do so,” he said. “So, we wont’s take any new initiative regarding the participation of all political parties,” Huda said. He also said, “We are working on achieving confidence of voters and political parties and so far, every election has been held in a free and fair manner.”   He also assured a free and fair by-election at Nasirnagar on March 13. Presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Brahmanbaria Rezwanur Rahman, the meet was attended by, among others, EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad, and Additional divisional commissioner of Chittagong Shankar Ranjan Saha.
