The law enforcers in separate raids on Monday arrested three militants including a woman from the city's Tejgaon Shilpanchal and Mirpur areas.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Tejgaon area while police arrested a female member of Neo-JMB from Mirpur area.

A squad of RAB-2 arrested Md Nuruzzaman Labu, 39, of Jhenaidah district and Nazmul Islam Shawon, 26, of Faridpur district from Sonali Bank Crossing under Tejgaon Shilpanchal police station around 7:10pm on Monday, said an release.

The arrestees joined the JMB in 2015. Of them Shawon is a marine engineer.

RAB personnel also seized two machetes, 724 US dollars and some religiously fanatic books from their possessions.

In another drive, Counter Terrorism Department of police on Monday arrested a female member of the Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the city's Kazipara area in Mirpur.

"We arrested a 22-year old Ashmaul Hosna alias Soma as she attacked policemen with a knife while they went to their Kazipara residence to inquire about her elder sister Momena Soma, 24, who had knifed a man to death at Melbourne in Australia on February 9 last," said a police official.

One of the policemen was injured in the attack, he also said.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee confessed their link to the Neo-JMB, he added.

Separate cases were lodged to this end.bss.
