Anamul aims to play big innings

Returning to the national fold after a long-lull, wicketkeeper-batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy feels regret not to make big innings in the back-to-back matches of the tri-nation series, stating on Sunday that he focuses more on himself to score big innings ahead.

Bijoy also said that he is trying to learn from the senior most players and applying the learnt lessons in the field in right vein.

“After being set in wickets, I try to make big scores. Last two matches I had set in wickets but didn’t score big runs. But I’ll try to stretch my innings ‘bigger’,” said Anamul Haque.

“Everybody feels well if the team wins. I always try to keep my contribution behind the team’s victory. I’m attempting to utilise the first 10 over properly. I feel quite well to bat with Tamim bhai after a long gap,” Anamul told reporters.

“It’s possible to do many more things if one could remain in the team. I want to play what the team demanded from me,” Anamul told reporters.

“Obviously, it would be better feeling if my innings could be bigger. If I could stretch my partnership with Tamim bhai from 70 to 150 it’d be really a matter of better feeling even though there is no end of better feeling. But I’ll try to better my innings to make better feeling further,” he added.

The 25-year-old right-hander said that it’s then possible to convert small innings to bigger if small errors could be addressed properly.

“It’s very important to play as per the match situation. I think, it’s imperative for every play to take calculative risk. I’ve done some errors in last matches. I’ll try not to repeat such errors in the next match,” the right-handed top-order batsman said.

“Tamim bhai takes risks now and then. The run-rate comes nearer if one could hit boundary in the chance of the bowlers’ loose deliveries. I’m trying to follow Tamim bhai as a top-order batsman,” he also said.

“I think, big innings is possible to make if small things could be amended. I just play two innings. Hopefully I could be stretched the innings bigger in the next time,” he added.

Bijoy, who played four Tests, 32 ODIs along with 13 T20Is so far after being burst into international cricket in 2012, tipped Tamim, Shakib, Mushfiq, Mashrafe and Riyad as a constant inspiration for the younger players of the dressing room and said that every player will look to better their performance if they got such inspiring players in the dressing room.

“We’re all now playing as a team. All are attempting to bring Bangladesh to a higher grade. Along with that, there is a fact is that we’ve some senior most players in the team, who can win match single-handedly,” Khulna-born lad said.

“Moreover, all are playing with freedom that was needed for us. I feel always a good feeling while I’m in dressing room. The dressing room is trimmed with the players the likes of Tamim bhai, who made 11,000 runs across formats, Shakib bhai, who scored 10,000 runs across all formats, Mushfiq bhai, who played 300 matches, Mashrafe bhai, whose charismatic leadership and Riyad bhai, who is a sublime fighter of the team,” he also said.

“It deemed to me that if we get such players around us, it’ll inspire not only me but also others players to do better further what usually we did,” he added.

He said that he is now trying his best to transform his domestic form especially what he did in last Dhaka Premier League (DPL) to international cricket.

“I think, it’s possible to play big innings. If I could talk with senior players and if the luck favours me, I could play big innings. It’ll not be a tough thing for me to make big innings because by the grace of Allah I scored 600 runs in Premier League, where strike rate was over 90. There were centuries. I’ve wishes alongside endeavours to convert that form to international games,” he thought.
